UPDATE: Fortnite update 31.00 is available to download on all platforms. While the game remains offline for server maintenance, fans can download and install the latest update. The news was confirmed by Epic Games on X: “You can now begin downloading the new Fortnite update v31.00 on all platforms.”
“As previously mentioned, patch sizes are larger than usual for this release. Please be aware of installation times as you prepare for the launch of Chapter 5, Season 4 – ABSOLUTE DOOM!”
ORIGINAL: Fortnite fans are counting down the days until Chapter 5 Season 4 releases on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, PC, Android, and Switch. The new Fortnite season will debut on the morning of August 16, but only after a lengthy server downtime across all platforms. Servers will be taken offline at around 4am BST (UK time) and will likely remain offline until around 10am BST. On the plus side, you’ll at least be able to download and install update 31.00 during the server downtime. Since file sizes will likely be larger than usual, downloading the update early means you can get in on the action as soon as servers are back online. And given all the hype from Epic Games, the Season 4 update will be worth checking out.

As you can see from the patch notes below, the new Fortnite season will add many Marvel characters and items to Battle Royale.
New Battle Pass characters include Doctor Doom and Gwenpool, as well as new variants for Wolverine and Captain America.
Various Marvel-themed mythical weapons and items will also be added to Fortnite throughout the season.
These include Captain America’s shield, Peelyverine’s claws and Gwenpool’s blades, as well as new sniper rifles, pistols and much more.
Of course, Epic Games will also be making a ton of gameplay optimizations and bug fixes, not only in Battle Royale, but also in Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, Creative, and LEGO Fortnite.
