NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A 24-year-old woman has been charged with rape of a minor for having a relationship with a 15-year-old boy, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
According to the arrest report, the 15-year-old’s mother called police on Tuesday to report that her son had left home and was with his 24-year-old girlfriend at her Nashville apartment. The report states the teen’s mother told the arresting officer that she had recently reported to MNPD that her son had told her he was in a relationship with the woman.
The mother was able to locate the woman’s apartment after the initial report and passed that information on to the arresting officer, the affidavit states. Police said she asked officers to go to the apartment and try to locate her son.
When officers arrived and knocked on the door, police say the 15-year-old jumped out of the woman’s apartment window, but was seen by his mother and came back to speak to police.
Police said the teenager stated in front of his mother that he had been in a relationship with the woman. Officers said they then spoke with the woman, who stated that she had had sexual contact with the teenager but ended the relationship after finding out he was 15 years old.
Police said she justified the reason for the teenager’s visit to her apartment by saying he had come to check on her because she was sick.
Jeslin Garay-Rivera was booked into the Davidson County Jail on Tuesday.
She is being held on $10,000 bail.
