Game No. 4: Puerto Rico vs. Japan
With all three games on the first day canceled due to rain, Japan and Puerto Rico will play the first game of the tournament on the second day of Group B of the 2024 WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup. Momoko CHINOMI will pitch for Japan and Puerto Rico will send Amanda CINTRON to the mound to start the game.
Japan scored the first run of the tournament in the first inning on Hanae KITAHARA’s RBI single! In the fourth inning, Yumeka KAGEN hit a home run, the first of the tournament, to right, scoring another run for Japan.
Japan scored four runs in the fourth to extend its lead to six runs. Puerto Rico answered with a run in the fifth. Japan scored two more runs in the sixth to extend its lead to seven runs. The game ended with the run-ahead rule and Japan defeated Puerto Rico 8-1 for its first win of the tournament.
Match No. 5: Italy vs Japan
Due to another rain delay, Japan and Italy took to the field at around 2:30 p.m. to play the second match of the day. Momoko CHINOMI of Japan was again on the mound to start the match while Chiara DI LAURO received the ball for Italy.
