The 97th annual American Legion World Series begins Thursday, August 15, with eight teams still battling for the elusive title.
American Legion Baseball is one of the largest amateur baseball clubs in the United States, with over 3,500 participating teams across the country.
Now there are only eight teams left, with the remaining teams meeting at Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, NC.
Last year, League City (Texas) Post 554 won the championship; this year, the team is back on the field with nine players from last year’s squad to defend its title.
