As we slowly approach the 2024-25 NBA season, we’ve gotten our first look at the schedule. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on the NBA schedule for Christmas Day, and the Sixers are in it. It was revealed that they will face the reigning champion Boston Celtics in what is expected to be the third game of the day.
NBA games on Christmas Day of the 2024–25 season according to sources:
Spurs at the Knicks
Timberwolves at Mavericks
76ers at Celtics
Lakers at Warriors
Nuggets at Suns— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) 9 August 2024
Although times are not officially announced, these games usually take place in the order Charania tweeted them.
It will be the Sixers’ third Christmas game in a row after losing to the Miami Heat last year and defeating the New York Knicks the year before.
It will be Philadelphia’s fifth Christmas game in the Joel Embiid era and their second against the Celtics. The two teams met on the holiday in 2018, when the Sixers lost 121-114 in overtime. Embiid scored 34 points in that game, but Kyrie Irving was the leading scorer with 40 points. And if 2018 doesn’t seem that long ago, Wilson Chandler started for the Sixers in that game and scored 15 points.
So as the schedule continues to leak out in bits and pieces, we will see how many top games this year’s team will ultimately play.
