One of the highlights of The Bachelorette this week I saw the guys on the golf course with Jesse Palmer. Of course we know he was an NFL quarterback back in the day, but he looks like he was a very good golfer too!
Out on the driving range, Jesse talks to Devin, who reveals that he invests more in the relationship than he gets back (welcome to The Bachelorette), and also with Marcus, who reveals that he finds it difficult to fall in love after only a few weeks (again, welcome to The Bachelorette).
Jesse really shines in this role. He proves to be a very attentive listener (I love how he stares at the speaker without blinking) and is good at communicating what he understands to the men.
Obviously most men only share their innermost thoughts with each other and their producers, so it’s nice to see a bit of that come out on camera in these chats.
After Devin’s date at the Fantasy Suite, where he repeatedly tells Jenn that he’s in love and gets no response, Devin is forced to spend the rest of the week locked in a hotel room, his mind wandering, knowing full well that she’s going on dates with other men.
After another conversation with Palmer, he decides to talk to Jenn and tell her that he doesn’t feel loved. As soon as she opens the door, the episode is over!
Ahhh. I know the show has to have cliffhangers like this to keep us interested, but this one seemed almost too cruel! I don’t know if I can enjoy it. The men tell everything tomorrow night, not knowing if Devin will stay.
I feel for Devin. He’s been cheated on before, treated as the “safe” guy, as “just an option,” and this is obviously extremely provocative for him. Part of me wonders why he even got on this show where you’re automatically treated as an option, where the main character is forced to date other people and usually can’t tell you how they feel until the end. But I know no one really knows what they’re getting into until things get serious!
We’ll see! I just want to skip The men tell everything and on to next week. Cliffhangers can be cruel!
