Tampa, Florida – Hundreds of fans and Captain Fear took the day off, making for a quiet 12th day of training camp. It’s the last day the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will practice at home before heading to their game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday night.
Three observations from the 12th day of the training camp:
Chris Braswell flashes
2024 second-round pick Chris Braswell has flown under the radar early in his NFL career. With Yaya Diaby and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka battling injuries, this is a golden opportunity for the edge rusher to make his presence known on the field.
On Day 12 of training camp, Braswell began to show flashes of his strengths in the absence of the starting fullback duo. The rookie dropped back into coverage and intercepted a pass from starting quarterback Baker Mayfield. His effort earned him praise from head coach Todd Bowles.
Devin Culp appears in the passing game
Cade Otton has had an exceptional training camp and has picked up where he left off in the playoffs. After Otton, only two tight ends will likely make the 53-man roster. The competition between Payne Durham, Ko Kieft and Devin Culp is fierce.
Culp improved his chances on Thursday by shooting impressive 50-50 balls and making big plays with all three quarterbacks.
Bowles reveals plan for Saturday
The biggest question in training camp this week was who would play on Saturday. Teams typically do without their core players for most of the training camp to avoid injuries. Bowles announced that most of the core players will not be playing in Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The head coach later clarified that all rookies will play, including expected starters Jalen McMillan and Graham Barton.
