SEATTLE – After experiencing exceptionally cool and wet weather over the past few days, we are predicting the return of glorious summer weather just in time for Labor Day weekend.
Temperatures between 21 and 25 degrees are expected in Seattle on Sunday.
On Sunday, Seattle residents can expect clouds to roll in later in the afternoon and sun to break through. Cloud cover will vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, and forecast models are divided on how sunny (or not) it will be this afternoon.
There may be isolated showers over the Olympic Mountains today, but otherwise dry weather is forecast.

Due to an approaching low pressure system, isolated showers are possible Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Tuesday will also be windy in places, especially near the Cascades.

Recent cool and wet weather is helping firefighters battle wildfires in central and eastern Washington. Unfortunately, the rain caused a mudflow on one lane of Highway 20 near the burn scar of the Easy Fire (in far eastern Skagit County) on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Recently burned areas may be more prone to flooding because they cannot absorb as much moisture as other areas. When heavy rain is forecast, we need to be alert to potential flooding over these burn scars.
I hope you are enjoying the mild sunshine this afternoon!
