Following speeches by Illinois’ political elite on Tuesday evening, vice presidential candidate Tim Walz takes center stage on the third day of the Democratic Party Convention.

After two days of protests, another rally is planned for 4 p.m. in Union Park, a few blocks from the United Center. The Chicago Coalition for Justice in Palestine has condemned Kamala Harris for her involvement in the Biden administration’s support of Israel.

Pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in front of the Israeli consulate in the city center on Tuesday evening. and several people were arrested when the crowd clashed with police.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus will moderate a panel during the day highlighting the “essential leadership role” of female governors. The panel will feature eight Democratic female governors, including Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Louis-Dreyfus played fictional Vice President Selina Mayer in the HBO series “Veep.”

Former President Bill Clinton will also give a speech on Wednesday evening.

Tuesday was a night for the stars of the Illinois Democratic Party, including Barack and Michelle Obama and Governor JB Pritzker.

Pritzker portrayed the 2024 general election as a stark contrast between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

Pritzker began his speech by highlighting Illinois’ rich history as a starting point for numerous future presidents, from Abraham Lincoln to Barack Obama.

But then the governor made a major shift in his speech and criticized Trump as an imposter. In his criticism of Trump’s economic policies, Pritzker even referred to his own enormous fortune, which is estimated at around $3.5 billion.

“Donald Trump thinks we should trust him on economic issues because he claims to be very rich. But take it from a real billionaire: Trump is only rich in one thing: stupidity,” Pritzker said, drawing thunderous reactions.
