WILLIAMSPORT, Pennsylvania – On the second day of the Little League World Series, eight more teams took the field for the first time.
One of those teams was South Shore Little League of Staten Island, the Metro Region champion, which lost 9-1 to Mountain Region champion Nevada.
Coach Bob Laterza’s team will now need to string together a series of victories to stay in the race and make it to the U.S. title game on August 24. That’s certainly no small feat in a tournament of this magnitude, but it’s certainly possible.
