Jackson County woman wins million in Michigan lottery

JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) – A central Michigan resident is now $4 million richer after playing the Michigan Lottery.

On Wednesday, the Michigan Lottery announced that a lucky 48-year-old player purchased her winning ticket at the Royal Liquor Food Market in Jackson.

“I buy scratch-off tickets randomly every few months,” the player said. “I usually buy $1 or $2 tickets, but when I was at the store I decided to try my luck on the World Class Millions game. When I got home I scratched it off and when I saw I had won $4 million I showed it to my mom and said, ‘Did I read that right?!’

The lottery said the lucky winner visited lottery headquarters to claim the grand prize and opted to receive her winnings in a one-time lump sum payment of $2.7 million.

The player said she would like to donate her winnings and save the rest.

“I plan to keep working and when the time comes, I will use my winnings as a financial cushion for retirement,” the player said.
