Ferrari can be satisfied with its weekend in the Netherlands. Although the Scuderia was initially considered the fourth strongest team in the field, the two Italian cars ended up ahead of Mercedes and Sergio Perez’s Red Bull. Even better: Charles Leclerc made it onto the podium, which was his second podium finish in a row after Spa at the end of July.
“I don’t understand why we were nine tenths behind yesterday with the same car and were on the podium today,” Leclerc expressed his confusion after the race. “We just have to do our best, it’s that simple.”
Eng: The winner of the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix battled for a long time with Oscar Piastri’s McLaren at the end of the race and was nevertheless slower than the Australian driver since the start of the weekend, paying tribute to his team’s strategy that allowed him to undercut his opponent.
“I think we have implemented a very good strategy. Congratulations to the team for that. We will also have further developments soon. Until they arrive, we will try to maximize our package, as we have done here.”
With this third place, Leclerc easily consolidates his third place in the championship and is now thirteen points ahead of Piastri and twenty over his teammate Carlos Sainz.
