Laure Ferrari, Nigel Farage’s girlfriend, is convinced that he will leave “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” as king of the jungle.
The controversial 59-year-old politician, who was one of the main supporters of Brexit, Britain’s exit from the European Union, received £1.5 million for his participation in the ITV reality TV series and won new fans with his pragmatic attitude and willingness to face the dreaded Bushtucker Trials.
Laure, who will be in Australia to welcome her husband when he leaves the show, believes his performance gives him a great chance of being crowned winner in 2023.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail newspaper, she said: “I really believe Nigel can win. He is extremely tolerant of people’s little idiosyncrasies and that will win him the support of the public.”
“I see it as my duty to support him. When he was invited to ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ we talked about it. I saw it as a huge opportunity for him to shine. He thought about it a little more carefully. He consulted his family and friends. It was a team effort that got him to this gig.”
Nigel caused a stir when he showed off his bare bottom while showering at camp, but 44-year-old Laure insists he has nothing to be ashamed of because he has a nice bum.
She said, “Nigel has a great butt, what’s wrong with that? If you’ve got it, show it off!”
Laure revealed what initially attracted her to Nigel – whom she met while working as a waitress in Strasbourg in 2007 – adding: “Nigel’s values as a man attracted me. He is loyal, empathetic and never breaks his promises. I find that very attractive.”
“I think the show gives viewers the opportunity to see the Nigel that I, his family and friends know and love.”
Laure, who now runs the Institute For Direct Democracy in Europe think tank, which had close links to Nigel’s former political party UKIP, believes that after his stint in the jungle, Nigel may be ready to give up his job as a presenter on GB News and return to politics full-time.
She mused: “I would say what is happening in this country is sad and worrying.
“There is only one person who can do this job (of leading the country). So if he decides to go back into politics, he would have my support.”
