Hunter Stratton placed on 60-day IL, LHP Brady Feigl selected

The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed RHP Hunter Stratton on the 60-day IL due to a tear in his left patellar tendon and have opted to sign LHP Brady Fiegl from AAA Indianapolis, according to a team statement.

Stratton’s injury made an already ugly 10-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds even worse. He was injured early in the fourth inning while defending home base after a wild pitch. The ball slipped from catcher Joey Bart and his throw to Stratton, who was defending home base and trying to prevent Elly De La Cruz from scoring, bounced off Stratton’s glove and headed toward the backstop. Stratton slipped awkwardly and caught himself as he approached the backstop, grabbing his left knee. Stratton needed a cart to leave the field. His placement on the 60-day IL ends his season. He had a 3.58 ERA in 37.2 innings of relief this year.

The 33-year-old left-hander Feigl, who signed with the Atlanta Braves in 2013 as an undrafted free agent out of Mount St. Mary’s University, has spent parts of seven seasons in the minor leagues with three different organizations, the last two as a pitcher in the independent Atlantic League. Feigl has never pitched in the MLB. He had a 3.83 ERA in 51.2 innings for AAA Indianapolis.

He is also not to be confused with the other Brady Feigl, who has not pitched professionally since 2021.
