Harry Potter star Warwick Davis’ wife Samantha has died from sepsis at the age of 53. In a statement through his wife, Warwick confirmed that Samantha passed away on Sunday, March 24.
Warwick said: “Her death has left a huge void in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs.” Warwick further described Samantha as his “most trusted confidant.”
He added: “She was a unique character, always saw the bright side of life, had a wicked sense of humor and always laughed at my bad jokes.”
Warwick and Samantha married in 1991 and the couple have two children, Annabelle, 27, and Harrison, 21, pictured below.
Harrison and Annabelle joined Warwick in their tribute, saying: “Her love and happiness have carried us through our entire lives. Mom is our best friend and we are honored to have experienced a love like hers.”
Warwick also added: “Without Sammy, there would have been no Tenable quiz show, no Willow series, no third season of Idiot Abroad.”
Samantha suffered from a bone growth disorder called achondroplasia and Warwick revealed that his wife’s mobility had declined in recent years but she was “determined that this would not affect her quality of life”.
It wasn’t the first time Samantha had fallen ill. Warwick had previously spoken about Samantha’s health condition when she was hospitalized with sepsis during a family vacation in 2018.
Warwick is best known for his role as Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter series, but he has been acting since childhood and rose to fame after his performance as Wicket in Star Wars.
Samantha was also an actress and had a role in the film Willow, where she first met Warwick. Samantha played an uncredited role while Warwick played the title character Willow Ufgood, and the two met on set.
The couple married and later founded Willow Management, an agency that represents actors under 5ft 1in and over 7ft 1in. They also founded the charity Little People UK in 2012 to help people with dwarfism and their families.
Samantha and Warwick’s children Annabelle and Harrison both played goblins in the last Harry Potter film, The Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
However, Annabelle continued to follow in her parents’ acting footsteps, appearing in ‘The Dumping Ground’ and ‘Saturday Mash-Up!’ and recently playing lawyer Lacey Lloyd in Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’.
