In their first fight in June 2023, Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III were supposed to have a simple exhibition fight. But the encounter was anything but easy and so a rematch took place on August 24. The eight-round exhibition fight will take place in Mexico City and will be broadcast on DAZN.
Mayweather turned pro in 1996, won titles in five divisions and is widely considered the best fighter of his generation. With a perfect record of 50-0, “Money” retired in 2017 after defeating MMA star Conor McGregor by TKO. Since then, he has competed in numerous exhibition fights.
Gotti is the grandson of notorious gangster John Gotti. As an MMA fighter and boxer, Gotti landed clean strikes on Mayweather, even though the ex-champion was only teasing him. When the referee decided to stop the fight early, an angry Gotti tried to attack Mayweather, which led to a brawl between both camps in Florida.
Even though there is a 16-year age difference, Mayweather, 47, is far superior to his opponent. However, Gotti, 31, wants to improve his reputation in the sport and believes he can be even more successful this time around.

“This fight can determine the course of my future in combat sports,” Gotti said, via Sports Illustrated. “He’s going to face some bad intentions. After everything that happened last time, we’ll see who backs down first.”
“Fate has given me a second fight and I’m making the most of it.”
A former champion returns from retirement in the supporting program, while local fighters look to prove their skills in Mexico City.
