Resurfaced artwork by Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama presents a nearly 30-year-old manga page in color that shows the showdown between Gohan and Majin Buu – one of the most famous fights in the series to date.
The August 20 issue of the Toriyama Archives, a project that highlights rare and iconic Toriyama artworks, unveiled the full-color design page of Weekly Shonen Jump 1995 Issue No. 5-6. About the official Dragon Ball Created on an English website on January 5, 1995, the page shows Gohan compared to Super Buu’s second form, Fusion Buu – the pure evil form of Majin Buu after consuming both Innocent Buu and later Gotenks. As shown below, Super Buu dominates Gohan and taunts him, “What’s wrong?” and “Try harder.”

The site also provided the following description: “This spectacular page in color shows the scene where Gohan challenges Majin Buu, now transformed from absorbing Gotenks and Piccolo! The color here really brings Gohan to life as he fights, wearing the same uniform as Goku, with the fate of the Earth at stake!” The image was available on the Dragon Ball The file remained on the website for only 24 hours before it was returned to the vault.
Buu later added Gohan to his corpse list, establishing himself as one of the Dragon Balls most evil villains. His childlike approach to murder sets him apart from most other opponents. Examples of his cruelty include turning Chi-Chi into an egg and smashing it, turning his good side into chocolate and eating it, and wiping out most of the Earth. Buu would be the final villain of Dragon Ball; he was later reborn as Uub, with his training arc with Goku ending after the events of Dragon Ball Super And DaimaOther recent re-releases from the Toriyama Archives include a younger Gohan and Goku on a father-son ride in a Bugatti and a 1990 sketch depicting the “fierce battle” between rivals Vegeta and Goku.
