Three Sundays ago, the Braves suffered one of the most embarrassing defeats in recent franchise history.
Two Sundays ago, Austin Riley was hit by a pitch that will likely put him out of action for the rest of the regular season.
And yesterday, the Braves lost the series finale to the Nationals while simultaneously holding their collective breath as Michael Harris II was hit by a pitch (and left the game in the fourth inning) and Marcell Ozuna had a ball bounce off his leg.
In other words, Sundays were not fun days for the Braves.
Fortunately, both Harris II and Ozuna appear to be OK. Harris II will be day-to-day soreness and Ozuna will likely be back in the lineup tonight when the Braves begin their road trip against the Twins. And while the last two weeks have been pretty stressful at times for Atlanta, they have also won four series in a row. That has allowed them to build a 2 1⁄2 game lead for the last NL Wild Card spot this week.
The key now for Atlanta is to find a way to get the offense going again as they face two current playoff teams this week in the Twins and Phillies.
