BEIJING, August 21, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–From Beijing, 15 young people from around the world explored green and smart mines and ventured into the Gobi Desert to see wind turbines and photovoltaic panels up close.

At the “2024 World Youth Energy Action” from August 9 to 13, a delegation of young people from ten countries experienced the high-quality development of the Chinese energy industry.

Before their departure, the international delegation participated in an online discussion with energy workers in Inner Mongolia and Gansu at the National Energy Group’s production control center in Beijing to learn about the integration, intelligence and efficiency of the intelligent operating system.

Raymond Aitibasa Atanga, a lecturer in the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at the University of Ghana, noted that China’s significant contributions to global sustainable development have benefited African countries.

At the Zhungeer Group’s green mine, the delegation was impressed by the automated operation of the 300-ton unmanned trucks and the reclamation area that has become home to hundreds of wildlife species.

“I thought coal was black, dirty and harmful to the environment. But through more efficient mining, transport and use, coal can become more environmentally friendly,” says Patrick Jack Robertson, co-founder of the British company Smart Air.

In the Gobi Desert, wind turbines convert wind energy into “green electricity.” The young people visited the Longyuan Yumen wind farm, the “cradle of wind power in Gansu,” and learned how China is trying to build a green energy brand to promote green and low-carbon development.

“I have seen many new technologies being used in the energy transition, but what surprised me most was that communities and residents are also involved in social green development. This is the sustainable way,” said Keyth Cristina Nascimento Guimarães, founder of a Brazilian company.

The World Youth Energy Action is an international exchange activity jointly launched by the China International Communications Group and the National Energy Group.
