HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two weeks after a pregnant Ewa Beach woman disappeared from Schofield Barracks, her family is expanding their search.
The mother and sister of 19-year-old Mischa Johnson spent the day posting missing persons flyers in Aiea and told HNN they would not give up their efforts to bring her home.
Hundreds of flyers have already been posted and more are being printed to reach the Aiea and Pearl City areas.
“We were just in Waikiki this weekend. Now it’s going to be like downtown Oahu,” said Marianna Tapiz, who, together with her mother, hung flyers on street lamps and shop windows to attract as many attention as possible.
Mischa Johnson was last seen at her home in Schofield Barracks on July 31.
She is described as a 1.57 m tall Filipino, weighs 77 kg and has a striking large dragon tattoo on her back.
Johnson is six months pregnant and married to a soldier on base.
“We just coordinated a walk around the base to raise awareness,” Johnson said.
The Army Criminal Investigation Department is leading the case. Current information is limited.
HNN asked the army if there were any suspects or clues and they did not answer our question.
In a detailed statement released Wednesday, the U.S. Army Hawaii said:
Finding Mischa, supporting the family, and the safety of all personnel on U.S. Army Hawaii bases remain our highest priority. Based on the actions of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) dating back to when Mischa was reported missing, U.S. Army Hawaii officials currently believe there is no threat to Schofield Barracks and the U.S. Army Hawaii communities related to this ongoing investigation. We encourage anyone with information regarding Mischa Johnson to contact CID.
A reward of $10,000 was still being offered for information leading to Mischa’s whereabouts.
“Coconut Funk, right? This island is too small,” said Tapiz.
The family hopes that the leaflets will provide new clues to the case and invites the community to post more.
