PEORIA (25News Now) – A 19-year-old man is in Peoria County Jail after being linked to a shooting that left a 16-year-old hospitalized last week.
Peoria police arrested the suspect, Andrew M. Drummond, around 1 p.m. Tuesday after he reportedly turned himself in. He is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a handgun under the age of 21.
As previously reported, police were called to the 1900 block of W. Kettelle Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 23, for a gunshot detection alarm. Officers found no one at the scene.
Police later learned that a 16-year-old had been taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle. The teenager had a gunshot wound to the chest.
Peoria police continue to investigate the shooting.
