Final preparations are currently being made for the 102nd annual Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival presented by Diley Ridge Medical Center. The festival will fill the streets of historic downtown Canal Winchester on Labor Day weekend.

The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday 31 August at 12:00pm on the festival’s main stage. The fun continues until 11:00pm on Saturday; from 10:30am to 11:00pm on Sunday 1 September; and from 10:30am to 6:00pm on Monday 2 September.

“The Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival celebrates over a century of family-friendly activities in our downtown area over Labor Day weekend. With so many food vendors, artisans, rides, games, free entertainment, a car show and our famous parade, there is something for everyone in the family,” said Carolyn Ebert, Labor Day Festival Board Chair.

Although the full schedule is still being worked out, the Labor Day Festival Committee promises to put on the fun and family-friendly festival that the community loves so much. All weekend long, rides and games will return to historic downtown, and kids can ride for free from noon to 5 p.m. as part of Free Ride Saturday.

Free festival entertainment featuring a variety of local music groups will fill the streets with sounds all weekend long. On Saturday, you can watch the Ohio State University football game on a giant screen in front of the main stage, with an opening act by Columbus native Simba Jordan. Old Skool will close the evening with a show of retro tunes. On Sunday, The Menus will bring 40 years of rock and roll to the stage, followed by chart-toppers from Columbus, North to Nashville. For a full list of performances, visit the Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival website.

For those over 21, the Ugly Mug Beer Pavilion is located on South High Street. The Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) allows visitors to drink beer, stroll, shop and explore the festival grounds all weekend long.

The Labor Day Festival will once again be a showcase for some of the best hot rods and vintage cars in Central Ohio on Sunday. In past years, over 200 antique, muscle and classic cars have been on display. The cruise-in, hosted by C-Town Cruisers, begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. with the trophy presentation. Registration is only $15 per car and begins downtown at 9 a.m. on West Waterloo St.

On Monday, enjoy the festival’s annual Canal Winchester Labor Day Parade presented by Kelly Abbott and the “A” Team, Howard Hanna Realtors. This year, the parade honors those who give their time, energy and effort to the community with the theme “Labor of Love.” The parade begins at 1 p.m. at Canal Winchester High School and moves through the city’s historic downtown.

Since 1920, the Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival has proudly partnered with local government and surrounding businesses to host the festival. Labor Day Festival organizers thank all festival supporters, especially the City of Canal Winchester and the festival’s main sponsor, Diley Ridge Medical Center.
